The flu is about as pleasant as having to catch a wily skunk with your fumbling hands, hold it up high and lick it. Whilst incidentally also having to do so totally naked in a field of ice...which I imagine a few people out there in the vastness of it all probably find rather appealing, however certainly not myself. I have always felt the flu is far too blunt as an ailment, it grips you rather violently and turns you into a zombie overnight (well, without the sudden dietary urge for human flesh and brains).
In the spirit of the living dead, I thought it would be rather nice to share one of my favourite modern zombie movies. If you were expecting a Romero flick, you have the wrong director, and in fact the wrong country. I would like to point your attention towards an amazing Spanish horror movie entitled [Rec].
If you happen to scare easily, you may want to avoid this. I tend to find most so-called horror movies these days rather lacking, making up for their absence of actual horror through excessive gore, however this movie certainly does not disappoint on either account. Indeed it may just leave you shaking for days.
So come on in, curl up on the sofa with a blanket, take a hot cup of tea and a cupcake, gather your wits about you and enjoy...

I don't like scary movies
ReplyDeletethey're just too scary
hope you feel better sooooon
This is the best horror movie I've ever seen! I just thought that I was becoming a little bit too old to get scared by horror movies... And then there was [REC]...
ReplyDeleteI just might watch it again tonight. And do exactly the thing you wrote in your last sentence.
I hate the thought of seeing scary movies, but I usually one way or another get dragged to one... funny how that works out..
ReplyDeleteI loved your opening paragraph. Oddly, I have been thinking of zombie movies and the flu as of late with all the epidemics at large these days. Add some brutal weather and throw in Cillian Murphy running around naked on the streets..great time for a zombie movie.
ReplyDeleteOf course, these days frost bite worries me more.
I haven't heard of this one. Very interesting commentary about it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really had the flu since I was really young, but I remember it being awful and curling up with a blanket next to a fire with a 104 degree temperature.
ReplyDeleteFun times? :P
I'm actually really digging the film. It's interesting, and not dull like most zombie films.
Feel better soon, dear!
xo,
hk
This movie looks terrifying. I can't handle scary movies. I watched The Orphanage by myself and nearly had a heart attack. I'm sorry to say I won't be renting this one. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have the flu; that must suck majorly. I've never had the flu so I don't really know how you feel, but get better soon! And watch as many movies as you can!
great description! sounds really amazing.
ReplyDeletehello, don't know if you remember me, but it's molly from fashionflush?
ReplyDeletei just came across your blog, and it's so strange to see how it's grown and developed- love the new layout!
hope you're good anyway.
oh, and also i'll have to give this a watch, i love scary films.
<3
Oh I watched this a while ago. I love horror films, and normally they don't scare me that much, but that one is terrifying! Especially the bit in the corridor with the little girl.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the American remake Quarantine? It's absolutely rubbish compared to this!
wow, looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI think I might want to avoid this as you say....
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, dear
xoxo
I saw the trailer for this movie a while ago, and it looked interesting! I will watch it after I return from having lunch with my friends. The weather is perfect for curling up in my warm bed with a movie (especially a zombie movie). Oh, you should read World War Z!
ReplyDeleteOh Dapper, it's like having a big red shiny button that says 'don't press'. I really, really want to click play (I always do on your blog!) but I am not a horror fan and I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight! Wish I wasn't so much of a wimp! Haha.
ReplyDeleteuh-oh! I don't like horror movies because then I can't sleep for days and afraid of going in dark places! I tried to avoid this by following up with a comedy or romantic movie just to forget about the horror! xoxoxoxoo
ReplyDeleteeeek, hope you feel better soon! i'm a pretty big scaredy cat when it comes to horror movies! i usually have nightmares :( xo, Mel
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better! I might have to take a pass on this one. I'm not so good with scary movies. In the spirit of the living dead, though, I am reading Dracula right now.
ReplyDeleteso sorry you're ill. the flu is never fun. feel better!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfrind convinced me to see this movie some time ago... and I could not sleep that night. Besides, the weeknd after I had to spend the night home alone, in the middle of nothing, in a country house. You can't imagin how scared I was :(
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon!
Hello there. I hope this finds you doing well this Monday. Take care. Have a great week. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling a little less zombie-like, my dear. I am a big horror movie fan, but I hate the torture and excessive gore in lack of a legitimate plot point...it drives me crazy! (And turns my stomach all at the same time!). This looks very interesting - and of course, terrifying!
ReplyDeleteDo feel better, dear!
Google video is being a bit rude to me at the moment but I'm going to have to watch this now that you've mentioned it! It really does take a lot to rattle me when it comes to scary movies - I wasn't even remotely touched by Paranormal activity! Here's hoping [REC] is better than that...

Oh zombie movies. They are so much fun to watch with friends. I especially love the cheesy ones.
ReplyDeleteZombies I can do. Serial killers...not so much!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you got sick, DK! I hope you are all better.
ReplyDeleteI'll take your advice and avoid this film, as I am a total wimp.
I love scary movies! I want to see this one now. It sounds really good. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great week so far!
