Taking a slight break from fashion, I thought it might be nice to share a few images from The Polaroid Book. It is actually a book which I had wanted to buy for quite some time, yet the opportunity had never really presented itself. Thankfully however I was recently able to do so, having found a lone copy wrapped in plastic, sat shivering behind copies of printed architectural folios. The book appeared to have be stashed away there for many months, and yet the chance reveal from a forgotten corner of a forgotten bookshop brought back all of its life and luster in a single magical moment.
The book contains a wide array of Polaroid photographs, from buildings to portraits to tricks of colour and light. Although the arrangement feels somewhat haphazard at times, the true beauty is one of inspiration. As is the way with any compilation of photography, each shot opens the door to a remarkable pathway for the mind. Yet what may start as a single pathway, swiftly opens into a sprawling network of thoughts and imaginings.
I think the beauty of photography is that the image itself simply opens one to possibility. It is the possibility of a whole new world of thought, a world as charming and alluring as one's imagination allows it to be. For the journey beyond the images is one left to the viewer to explore for themselves.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a great book with so much emotion and art in it as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is very impressive. Thanks so much for sharing this cool photography book. I loved my polaroid camera when I was growing up. Of course, never thought how artistic you could be with something like that.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love these polaroids a lot! These images are so magical indeed and it was such destiny for you to find this book. Keep it forever :) I would love a book like this, or even just make a book out of the polaroids I've taken. Golly gosh its been so long since I've taken polaroids. This beautiful book has got me wanting/needing to buy more film.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week, and keep on smiling :)
"sat shivering"...I love that.
ReplyDeleteIt made me want to hug the book.
also there is a film called Crazy/Beautiful that made me want a Polaroid camera but my Mum explained that it would be too expensive.
I've got the same book somewhere! Really nice find.
ReplyDeleteHey there. I really enjoyed your post. I hope you've had a fantastic weekend. Take care. Have a wonderful week ahead. Cheers!

the funny thing about polaroids are their instantaneity. and most people would say that people only like it because it looks cool and its totally hipster but i dont think so. imagine a photograph that captures a moment that really cant be duplicated. i love that they are singular and thats it. it was a moment in time that cannot be replicated. i dont know im blabbing, its beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love polaroids! I think that while you still obviously need an eye for photography, it's pretty easy to get a good picture with a great SLR camera. Taking a beautiful Polaroid is true, true talent. These are all lovely beyond words. Thanks for sharing, darling!
ReplyDeleteIit's such a shame people don't take so many photographs anymore, or to be specific, print them out. It's all well and good having them on a laptop, but it's so much nicer to have something you can hold in your hands.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted! This looks like one of those fantastic books you just keep going back to time and again to gaze at! Taschen have the best range of books too - I could quite easily buy their whole range!
ReplyDeleteI agree with hammy..Photographs really are "little chunks of time to hold in your hands". I saved that quote from somewhere I can't remember. Anyways, I think it's so much more charming to print them out...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an interesting book! I love all books from Taschen:P
What a great idea! Looks beautiful :)
ReplyDeletei've wanted to buy that book for some time. it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeletevery artistic!!!I love them.
ReplyDeleteHanh,
This looks fun! I have a spicecam - thats right an official spice girls polaroid camera straight from the 90s that I adore but can rarely part with the three million pounds for film. I think I'm going to have to get some this week though - your post has inspired me to do so! :) x
