Natural Beauty

Beauty can be found anywhere, you only need look for it.

It is a statement I truly do believe, and has become something of a personal mantra. Indeed, I often find that the most beauty can actually be found in the ostensibly mundane. Unfortunately people become desensitized to it, in a way, as they go about their lives. They simply forget the joy that can be found in the rising of the sun, reflections upon a puddle or even just the feel of the wind.

I think one of the most obvious of things that I feel people overlook at this time of year, is something that happens all around us - it is quite magical and beautiful beyond words. I am speaking of course of when the shivering trees shed their blazing red and honey brown leaves for the Winter. Whilst most seem content to forget them underfoot, I took some time to have a wander and pick some up in order to bring them home and rescue them from their inevitable decimation under the repeated poundings of feet and rain.

  3. So true. I relish the fallen leaves every year. I've seen the most alarming shade of fuchsia in a lot of them this year as well as many shades of blue. Plus, they've started to make that lovely crunch sound.

And quite a coincidence, I spent this afternoon looking round a gallery of Ruskin's work, which is all about the beauty of nature and stuff.

  15. Those of us that don't get to experience the changing of the leaves due to our horrible Floridian climate, most definitely appreciate the beauty in those fallen gems!

  46. Beautiful post! I love the close-up shots of the leaves. It is a shame when people don't take the time to appreciate the more simpler beauties in life, but I think it's just the hectic city lifestyle that prevents to many from just taking a long pause and taking in everything around them. I think it's the one reason I prefer to walk than to take the tube...

Wishing you a lovely weekend! :)

  48. Aw I totally forget how beautiful nature and all those subtle pretty things around me are sometimes. My friend pointed out how happy it made her to see little dew drops on the clovers when walking to class at 7:30 in the morning. Things like that can really brighten up your day!
