Building Around The Tie

I had yet another doctor to see this morning, it appears the frequency with which I spend my time doing so is ever increasing. I decided to build my outfit for the day around a single piece, which was a wonderful striped tie that belongs to my father.

To compliment the greys of the tie, I wore a light blue shirt, over which I decided to go with a light grey cardigan. For my lower half, I decided to go with a pair of faded jeans and my brown leather brogue boots. I always feel that I need to tuck my trousers in when wearing boots, for some reason it always feels more comfortable when walking. I suppose it is as there is little likelihood of getting the ends of my trousers frayed or wet when walking on pavement and over puddles. In order to compliment the reds of tie I also wore bright red socks, which are out of shot, being underneath the boots. I guess the overall look I was searching for was of comfortable yet lived in smartwear.

My father believes in always dressing smart, and although he has very few clothes, they are all of high quality. In fact he very rarely buys clothing in general, opting to wear his aged yet well loved garments. I suppose well looked after and well made clothes are always the better choice than throw away fashion. Indeed my father's style has not changed in years, yet he has always managed to look smart, which is something I admire greatly.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to all of your wonderful comments, I shall try to get around to it as soon as possible.
And also may I take the opportunity to wish a certain someone a very happy birthday.

  18. Those shoes just set things off..great job.

I think taking care of clothes can be the hardest. I'm always spilling something on my clothes. I'm so messy.

  21. Fantastic outfit, as always. And your father sounds like a fantastic style icon... I definitely agree that owning a few timeless pieces are much better than having a closet full of more trendy clothes that will only last a season.

I do hope you start feeling better soon, dear.

  32. ha! ur dad seems to be a wise guy, fashionwise. my dad certainly isnt in that department. more like the discount store, whatevers cheap and keeps warm kind of guy. but well, hes a good guy nonetheless ^^ ive never tried spending on quality items. somehow it never really occurred to me, but someday i will start with it and will fill my closet with everlasting classics only. a wardrobe to worship!

your outfit today is chic as usual!

  33. You are so insanely stylish... why are most boys not so considerate with their clothing? I completely agree with your father. This is why even if they had a good ethical record I would never shop at Primark.

  34. Hey you,

You look absolutely wonderful as always... I love how you always pay attention to the smallest details.

P.S. Thank you for the book... I've actually read Everything is Illuminated...and the parts of Ukraine that they mention is very familiar to me,as that is where my family comes from. Wonderful suggestion :) Have you seem the movie? It is rather interesting.

  36. No, it's true. Stay away from them. There are only a few things that I have learned from these books:

    1. the education system in America is truly failing its students.
    2. Brigham Young University's English department is absolute gobshite.
    3. the only people to truly enjoy these books are sexually frustrated middle aged housewives... who probably live in the Deep South.

I could also probably go into a 20 minute rant about how the entire series is anti-feminist and glorifying abusive relationships, but I did that last night to the dismay of a bar full of drunk people. (NOT GOOD.)
