Sweet Jane

These photographs are from the Bedwin SS09 Collection, entitled 'Sweet Jane'. For their collection, the Japanese label took a more casual approach as compared to their usual direction. There is also a definite Americana inspiration, which seems to be quite common for Japanese streetwear brands, even more so this upcoming season. Creative director, Masafumi Watanabe, stated that the collection sought to evoke the brand roots in acoustic rock music.

I always enjoy understated collections, which cater to quality and strive to remain true to the character of their brand. You may notice the polka dot trousers worn on a simple white shirt and blazer. I have never really figured out how to incorporate polka dots into my outfit, but I think I may give that look a try - once I find the correct trousers! Also, as seen in the collection, my desire for classic desert boots is ever increasing.

Now, if one would be so kind as to excuse me, I think I may go and don my father's tweed trilby...

  1. Great looks... some of them look a little like they're trying too hard though. I especially like the yellow gloves and that black cardigan with the white contrast placket!

  4. The bright yellow gloves and backpack are my favorites, but it all looks pretty interesting, if trying a bit too hard at times.

  6. I love the youthful tone of this collection. It's also grown-up, but not stuffy. You have great taste, DK.

  12. I don't know if you've seen/heard of them before, but suhsangyoung is my new favorite designer. He only does a mens lines, but the designs can be interpreted as unisex. I thought of you when I was going through his Fall '08 collection the other day. :)

  17. Just realised looking at these pictures.. designers are now paying more attention to inner lining materials.. is that because young folks these days want to turn their garments over more?!
