Not So Red

I always find unusual colours of plaid intriguing, not only does it provide a focal point to an outfit, it also gives it an unexpected twist. As such I decided to wear this pink, blue, yellow and white plaid shirt. No doubt not the typical colours that come to mind when mentioning plaid. I also wore a grey bow tie, an addition that smartens up the look nicely. Plaid tends to conjure images of casual attire, so I thought to counter that for my outfit. Out of shot in both images are vintage jeans and matching pink socks. I felt that the jeans were an addition to keep true to the more casual nature of plaid, however as a whole the look is far smarter.

And yes, I have been practicing, and managed to tie the bow without the assistance of a mirror.

  6. Ah I like the unusal colours, I love when shirts are worn buttoned up fully too.
I love wearing my bow tie... but I'm ashamed to admit it's an elasticated one from a fancy dress shop. I'm useless with knots, don't judge! haha

  9. WOW..I'm so impressed with that bow tie. Love the colors. Wish I could tie one and I would wear it. I would. Of course, I might get some peculair looks from a few at work. And yeah, I did wear one once, but I just made it..you know like a choker out of this floral print and then I had someone ask me if were gay. Some people. Then of course, I just smiled and told them I was.

Thanks so much for the comment.

  10. Perhaps Dayton has just been pushed off his soap box and somethings he's just not in control of. I always felt Chris was the mature one between the two of them. Yet, I do feel Dayton is this young amer. guy breed who feels so much is against him when in fact..he's got it so easy, he doesn't even know how to really take it in stride. This is possibly the first "real" problem he has ever faced so alone.

    Thanks very much for reading.

  12. Oh so dapper! Thanks for the comment. Oh, to my surprise a blogger I hadn't visited in a while left me a comment on my Laleh & Lauren blog that he knew many of the extras on Hollyoaks. He was surprised I was such a Hollyoaks fan.

I suppose though..if it wasn't for Frankie's Old fashioned ways..the suspense would haven't really been its magnatude even with the Craig & JP storyline. Yet, many like to believe her "thoughts" are past, even here in America..but it all comes out in the wash in small town america still. I've been reading TENDER MORSALS by Morgo Lanagan. Oh my, it is a fantasy, yet you so feel you are reading the history of what life was possibly like ..lets say in "jutland"(I so loved this Christan Bale movie about the real hamlet) of olden times back when even kingdoms weren't much more than a nicer thatched house than the rest... back when one referred to dad as just "da". Such strife and so much ignorance yet people still survived. Those sort of roots are so deep they still hang on even into todays world.

  15. Well, I guess deep down..I do like guys just a bit shaggy. I have a friend who's very "no hair" on her guy's face. Its funny how she is.

Since I was little I even liked the feel of my fingers on my dad's chest hair..I must be the earthy one.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't know there was such a thing No Shave November until my friend told me. I don't think he liked it much when I played with his whiskers..hehee..

  21. Nicely put together! I've been wanting a soft, cotton jersey bowtie... I think it would be a nice alternative to the stiff silks!

  31. Snap!!! I wore something VERY similar last night except I threw in some stripes - just to keep it twisted.

  32. Very very dapper :) it's a lovely twist on two very vintage looks. And out of curiosity - have you tried tying your bow tie around your leg? That's how I learned to do it (I work in a menswear store) and its like tying your shoelaces - very easy. I've been seeing some cool bowties in knit fabrics as well, like knitted ties.
